Title: Sikorsky and DARPA fly pilotless Black Hawk
Post by: ¥FOXES¥ PoN on February 09, 2022, 11:30:31 PM
The Sikorsky Aircraft company, which is known for its helicopters such as the UH-60 Black Hawk and the CH-53 Sea Stallion, and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), a research and development branch of the US Department of Defense, managed to get a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter to fly without a pilot! And it wasn't remote controlled either like a drone! Like the autonomous driving Teslas on the highway DARPA and Sikorsky are doing research into autonomous flight using artificial intelligence. It isn't like putting an aircraft in autopilot either, because the aircraft actually has to make decisions on its own...while autopilot is merely a system that assists a pilot and warns him for potential danger. So, a helicopter that can detect and evade danger on its own. Sounds interesting right? But how will this benefit the chopper pilots in the US Army? What are your thoughts?
