Fawlty Towers' "don't mention the war" to be added to Dutch dictionary

The world famous quote "don't mention the war" from British comedy series Fawlty towers will be featured in the Dutch dictionary Van Dale. In the famous episode "The Germans" Jonh Cleese receives a group of German guests and continously instructs his staff not to mention the 2nd World War by saying "don't mention the war". According to the Editor in chief of the Van Dale dictionary, the phrase has acquired a permanent place in the Dutch language over the last few decades and it is used jokingly when a topic comes up that people would rather not talk about.

To be frank, I've never heard someone in the Netherlands say it unironically...  :o
